Technique Spotlight Clinics w/ Leah

Refine how you move. Reclaim how you feel

What Are the Technique Clinics?

Many chronic pain issues and injuries arise from not knowing how to care for our joints or move with integration. These Technique Clinics are designed to provide you with the knowledge and tools to refine your movement practice and support long-term well-being. These Clinics are intelligent, accessible training sessions designed to deepen your understanding of movement and biomechanics. Whether you're a mover, coach, or anatomy nerd, these clinics will upgrade your approach to strength, mobility, and longevity

Deep dive sessions are designed to help you understand how your body actually works. Each clinic spotlights a specific area of the body and explores its biomechanical, neurological, and structural functions. Through somatic cues, applied anatomy, and integrated practice, you’ll gain tools to move with greater clarity, resilience, and responsiveness. Whether you’re a dancer, coach, teacher, or curious mover, these sessions are for anyone seeking long-term, sustainable gains.

Good for the Sole

A Workshop on Foot Function, Mobility & Structural Integration
Duration: 90 minutes

This session explores the architecture and intelligence of the feet, not just as static supports, but as dynamic instruments of balance, propulsion, and proprioception. We’ll examine how habitual footwear, surface uniformity, and modern posture patterns disconnect us from the ground and disrupt upstream organization.

You’ll engage in a blend of sensory tuning, mobility drills, and strength patterns to:

  • Restore articulation and adaptability in the feet and ankles

  • Address collapsed arches, plantar pain, and restricted toe function

  • Clarify the relationship between foot mechanics, pelvic support, and full-body integration

Head Over Heels

Aligning the Head, Neck & Shoulders for Postural Coherence
Duration: 2 hours

The head-neck-shoulder complex is a central axis of orientation, breath, and nervous system regulation. In this clinic, we’ll explore the mechanical and perceptual impact of forward head posture, shoulder girdle disorganization, and compromised breath mechanics—common outcomes of screen use, stress, and modern movement patterns.

Through breath-based movement, mobilization, and biomechanical mapping, you’ll learn to:

  • Reduce cervical load and upper body tension through skeletal alignment

  • Unlock the ribcage and diaphragms for integrated respiration

  • Improve shoulder centration and overhead mechanics without over-bracing

  • Cultivate a clearer orientation, less fatigue, and more ease across your spine

The Hips Don’t Lie (Zoom Workshop is Sunday, July 27th, 2025)

Restoring Spiral Mechanics in the Hips, Knees & Pelvis
Duration: 2 hours

Most contemporary movement patterns are dominated by linearity. But the lower body was designed to spiral through subtle coordination between the femur, tibia, pelvis, and sacrum. This clinic reintroduces rotation as a foundational principle for load distribution, force transfer, and joint health.

You’ll work with somatic cues, resistance tools, and fascial sequencing to:

  • Reintegrate internal tibial and external femoral rotation for healthy knee tracking

  • Stabilize the SI joint through rotational force closure rather than bracing

  • Improve squat mechanics and reduce compensatory tension in the spine

  • Reclaim the body's ability to coil, rebound, and adapt dynamically to ground reaction forces

✨ Why These Clinics Matter

In most classes, there’s no time to dive deep. These clinics give you the space to slow down, focus, and learn how your body really works. It’s like upgrading your body’s software—so your hardware lasts longer.

💬 What Students Are Saying

"I was having bad pinching shoulder pain for months and tried everything I knew from my extensive movement education. It was limiting me from being able to dance and teach. One session with Leah and the pain was gone! Her expertise and level of detailed understanding of the body, alignment, and injury is incredible. Can’t recommend her highly enough."

About Leah Woods

My name is Leah (she/they), and I have been teaching full-time for 14 years. As a movement artist and educator, I am committed to cultivating accessibility, creativity, and joy through movement practice. My work integrates biomechanics, mobility training, and somatic principles developed through my M.F.A. in Dance and Performance from the University of Colorado, Boulder, where I specialized in the Alexander Technique, the Feldenkrais Method, and Body-Mind Centering.

My approach also draws on 9 years of study in the GYROTONIC® Expansion System, where I am certified as a GYROKINESIS® Pre-trainer and GYROTONIC® trainer, with specializations in the Jump Stretch Board, Gyrotoner, and Archway equipment. Additionally, my ongoing studies include Fighting Monkey mentorship, Marcello Palozzo's Human Movement Studies program, and influences from Tom Weksler, Ido Portal, and martial arts practices.

Having worked extensively with collegiate dancers, individuals managing chronic pain, and movers of all ages, I aim to bring nuance and clarity to movement education. My goal is to help you develop a sustainable relationship with movement that supports longevity, efficiency, and ease.
